Sir Michael Oliver
The 674th Lord Mayor of the City of London, from November 2001 to November 2002, Sir Michael is a Director of Investment Funds with an extensive career in stock broking and investment companies.
Educated at Wellington College, Michael started his working life in the UK before transferring to South Africa. He returned to London in 1970 and spent 23 years at Kitcat & Aitken, first as a partner and then as a Director. Subsequently he was Managing Director of Carr Kitcat & Aitken. His last full time role was as Director, Investment Funds for Scottish Widows Investment Partnership Ltd (1994-2001).
His Directorships and Trusteeships include: Director, Central & Eastern European Fund Ltd; The European Growth Fund Ltd; Hampden Capital PLC; Zirax PLC; and Europa Oil & Gas Holdings PLC.
Michael is currently Alderman of The City of London and a Justice of the Peace. He is Joint-Chairman of the Port of London & Docklands Museum and was Chairman of the Steering Committee from its inception.
Sir Michael was a Trustee for the Geffrye Museum and Governor of the University of East London during 1992 to 1996, and was Chancellor of City University (2001-2002). Sir Michael is involved in a number of charities and voluntary fund raising organisations including Centrepoint Soho (1986-2000) and Providence Row, charities for the homeless, and Zenex Educational Trust, a South African charity promoting Black education in maths and science.
